The 3X3 Short Film Award emerged from the wish to support local filmmakers. At the same time K3´s inherent concept of establishing cross-border cooperation has called for a supra-regional competition where filmmakers meet and where the audience gets to know topics and filmic approaches of the neighbouring regions.

Local competitions are held in Slovenia, Carinthia (Austria) and Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy) and from each of them a jury nominates three films to take part at the 3x3 supra-regional competition.

Finally one out of these 9 films will be awarded with
the 3X3 Short Film Award worth € 1.500.-.

K3 AUDIENCE AWARD
worth € 800.-

The K3 Audience Award is awarded in an awesome way,  probably even in a worldwide unique way: Not by an anonymous vote, but in an open discussion with the audience!
At first the audience can anonymously vote their favorite short film after each programm. The three films with the most votes are shown again on the last day of the festival and serve as an inspiration for the subsequently open public discussion: The best argument indicates the winner of the K3 Audience Award.

„Ein sehr gutes Skript, das durch die schauspielerische Leistung und die kaum merkbare Regie dramaturgisch in sich stimmig ist.

Nach herzlicher Kontaktaufnahme durch eine ältere Dame gerät ein unwissender, junger Mann in sehr natürlicher Umgebung und in einem Auto auf eine zunehmend bedrängende, beängstigende Weise in eine Opfersituation: Es wird Sex gefordert. Die folgende Vergewaltigung verläuft aufgrund der Unerfahrenheit des Burschen ohne Gegenwehr. Die komplexe und verstörende Szene deckt ein Tabu auf und zeigt die Frau als Täterin, die Wölfin im Schafspelz. Der bedrohliche weibliche Phallus steht metaphorisch für die Unsicherheit des modernen Mannes. Es ist eine Initiationsszene, welche die Traumatisierung als notwendiger Bestandteil des Erwachsenwerdens aufzeigt.

Das unerwartete Ende hinterlässt die Täterin abermals alleine zurück. Die Revanche der ehemaligen Geliebten an dessen Sohn verfehlt den Zweck, der junge Mann ist erwachsen geworden und entzieht sich weiteren Handlungen. Der Film hat uns beschäftigt, ist bei uns geblieben und hat Fragen aufgeworfen."

"It’s a very good script, which is dramatically coherent due to great acting and a very subtle direction of the film.
By what first seems like a warm contacting in a natural environment, in a car, a young man becomes the victim of an elderly woman, who demands sex in an increasingly oppressive and frightening way. The rape proceeds without resistance due to the inexperience of the young men.
The complex and disturbing scene reveals a taboo and depicts the woman as the perpetrator, the wolf in sheep's clothing. The menacing, female phallus is a metaphor for the insecurity of the modern man. It is an initiation story that reveals the experience of trauma as an essential part of growing up.

The unexpected end leaves the offender on its own in solitude again, the former mistress of the father fails with her revenge on the son. The young man has grown up and refrains from further actions. This film engaged us, made us think, remained in our heads and raised questions."

Der Film besticht durch die Konsequenz in der Durchführung des Konzepts, er nennt die Dinge beim Namen. Der normale 3-dimensionale Raum wird in eine Oberfläche für eine 2-dimensionale Perspektive verwandelt, wird Spielfeld für Skurriles und Alltägliches um diese ad absurdum zu führen. Es ist eine Collage aus Fantasie und Realität, aus simplen Situationen, die äußerst komplex erfunden sind: Witzig, brillant und mit Verstand! Dieser Film ist ernst zu nehmen und ist gleichzeitig sehr humorvoll.

The film stands out by the consequence of the implementation of its concept, he calls “a spade a spade”. The normal three-dimensional space becomes the surface of a two-dimensional perspective, a new environment to accentuate the absurdity of bizarre, everyday life. It is a collage between fantasy and reality, simple situations that have been constructed in an extremely complex from: Funny, brilliant and intelligent. This film is to be taken serious and at the same time is very cheerful.

Es gibt viele Geschichten und Dokumentationen, die sich der grundlegenden Erfahrung widmen: Zeit vergeht! Nicht nur „Dinge“ weichen und verändern sich, auch Träume, Erinnerungen, unser Leben selbst!

Es ist eine Freude, den 3X3 Kurzfilmpreis an eine Geschichte zu vergeben, die diese Inhalte so humorvoll und zart, zugleich aber ernst, tiefgründig und direkt behandelt, durch die einfache Frage an ein älteres Ehepaar: „Wann habt ihr euch das letzte mal geküsst?“

Was dann geschieht ist lustig, liebevoll, schön, ein wenig peinlich (nicht auf unangenehme Art), aber auch tragisch, ernst und melancholisch. Es ist einfach berührend auf vielen Ebenen.

Wir freuen uns daher sehr, den 3X3 Kurzfilmpreis an den Film rît Bianca! // Smile Bianca! von Debora Vrizzi vergeben zu können.

There are lots of stories and documentaries, which are dedicated to the fundamental experience of „time passing by“. Not just „things“ are fading, changing, also dreams, memories, life itself!

It’s a pleasure to give the 3X3 Short Film Award to a story which treats this content in such a fine humoristic and at the same time gentle, careful and clear way just by asking a simple question to an elderly couple: „When did you kiss each other for the last time?“

What happens then is funny, sweet, beautiful, a little embarrassing (not in a bad way) and at least tragic and melancholic. It’s simply touching on many different levels.

So we are very happy to dedicate the 3X3 Short Film Award to the movie rît Bianca! // Smile Bianca! by Debora Vrizzi.
