Born in 1934 in Berlin, Hans-Joachim Roedelius had already gathered a big deal of life experience, when he turned from medicine to music in 1968 and later to the art of words. His past as a child film star, forced labourer, physical therapist, hospice worker and globetrotter influenced his unique style. He was a founding member of the groups Kluster, Cluster and Harmonia that still have a lot of influence today and helped creating a German style of music called “Kosmische” (Cosmic). After experimental, big-bang-like sound cascades in his early years and electronic music and techno rhythms in the seventies, he meandered towards the style that we can now expect at K3 Festival: Sections of strictly composed music combined with special soothing melodies, piano improvisations and recorded sounds from the tape. If we exercise enough pati- ence, let go, relax and open up, we might find dreams and visions that have long been missed.
