Project in residence: SALUTI DAL CONFINE (production/short documentary)
During her stay in Villach, Lisbeth Kovačič produced a 20-minute short documentary on the border station at Thörl-Maglern/Coccau (AUT/IT), prime example for the non-place called “border within the EU”. She captured the unreal feeling of this symbolically charged and at the same time run-down border station by doing interviews with restaurant owners, border patrollers or Carinthian day trippers in order to penetrate this microcosm. Image and sound are mostly dissonant, in order to let space for the viewers own association and reflection about the necessity of borders.
