A visionary mediation project as part of the initiative “Art is Class!”, initiated by „Gruppe 508 – Verein zur Förderung neuer Kunst“ in collaboration with Peraugymnasium Villach and the renowned K3 Film Festival, opens up new perspectives on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and video art.

In an era where AI is ubiquitous and considered an inexhaustible source of creative possibilities, this program explores the question: “What are the limits of AI in art?” Between admiration for AI-driven works and critical reflection, an exciting field of tension emerges.

Together with 13-year-old students, we explore the potentials and challenges of AI. Inspired by a fascinating thought experiment –“Explain AI to 5-year-olds” – the participants delve into the world of AI and video art.

1. AI AND FILM – by s.myselle

AI pioneer Stephanie Meisl presents a program curated exclusively for the K3 Film Festival, showcasing both the historical developments of AI and film as well as cutting-edge contemporary works.

2. AI AND FILM  – by Klasse 3F des Peraugymnasiums

Under the guidance of AI expert Stephanie Meisl, the students of Class 3F at Peraugymnasium developed their own program. Their task was to select one film from five categories, each featuring 3 to 4 nominated films, and justify their decision. This process sparked lively discussions about art, video art, and AI.
