Project in residence: Objects in the rear mirror appear closer than they really are (production)
The project “Objects in the rear mirror appear closer than they really are” will examine the relationship between the autobiographical and the media in a self-reflective manner. Various media devices such as photographs, analog film and video8 fragments from the filmmaker, family and friends will poetically and structurally open up the past and the present on an equal footing. A complex and heterogeneous relationship between different media, memories and images is spanned in a kaleidoscopic collage. The story will span four generations and is set in Carinthia and Vienna.
During his stay in Villach, Markus Maicher will collect and view archive materials (photos, Video8 recordings, Super8 recordings), make film recordings and will start editing. His goal is to be able to present a rough version of the film after three months.
