Advice on Life | Ratschläge zum Wohlergehen
Hubert Sielecki | A 2025 | 5‘58‘‘
Premiere: CARINTHIAN PREMIERE

His grandfather’s voice offers him advice on life. Set against short clips from wars, mostly showing explosions, the advice takes on a different meaning. In light of today’s conflicts, both text and images feel especially timely.
Marblemumbles
Anna Vasof | A 2025 | 1‘51‘‘
Premiere: CARINTHIAN PREMIERE

“Marblemumbles” is an exploration of urban decay and natural resilience set in a marble quarry. Paper posters of building façades are applied to a heap of marble stones, forming a new city that seems both constructed and mysteriously destroyed. The accompanying film enhances this ambiguity with a soundscape mixing city and quarry noises.
All Buildings Are Beautiful
Christoph Schwarz | A 2026 | 20‘15‘‘
Premiere: CARINTHIAN PREMIERE

The demolition of the former University of Economics on Althangrund in Vienna could become the largest demolition and redevelopment project of the decade in the city. An ageing university complex from the early 1980s is set to make way for a new, sustainable educational campus. This careless treatment of the building fabric and the embodied grey energy within the structure is emblematic of an era in which, despite an accelerating climate crisis, we cling to concepts from the past. To film “All Buildings Are Beautiful”, Christoph Schwarz rented a studio the last year the building was accessible. Slow tracking shots allow the viewer to experience the spaces, whilst Suse Lichtenberger’s voiceover tells the stories of people campaigning to preserve the building. As in “The best city is no city at all” (Austrian Short Film Award 2021), Christoph Schwarz combines personal experiences and a documentary search for clues with climate-driven criticism of growth to create a film essay that is both humorous and poignant.

No One Ever Looked at Elephants as You Do | Nihče ni nikoli gledal slonov kot ti
Sandra Jovanovska | SLO 2026 | 9‘57‘‘
Premiere: AUSTRIAN PREMIERE

NO ONE EVER LOOKED AT ELEPHANTS AS YOU DO is a lyrical and visually rich animated poem exploring the transformation of motherhood into a pure, primal state of being. Within the mechanical boundaries of the body – skin, body hair, mother’s milk – an intimate alchemy takes place. The baby’s perspective, from the womb to its first steps, becomes a lens through which the mother re-experiences the world. She is no longer just a woman; she becomes an Earth Mother: an ecosystem charged by magic and raw biology. Food morphs into soil, toys into living creatures, and the body into a garden. The film is a hymn to the inexplicable force of the organic bond between mother and infant.
